Solar Classroom

POSTED: 3:03 pm EST January 21, 2007

The sun is our solar system's "star" and it contributes in a major way to our everyday lives.

It powers photosynthesis in green plants and is the source of almost all food and fossil fuels on the earth.

And its interaction with the moon drives the seasons, ocean currents, weather and climate.

But did you also know that the sun is also our most abundant natural energy source?

Recently, students and teachers at Clarkstown South High School in West Nyack, New York, received money from the state Board of Education so they could experiment with solar energy.

Let's take a look at what they've done so far.
