Have you ever looked at a waterfall, or even the Grand Canyon, and wondered how in the world they were made?Well those beautiful sights are actually created through a process called "weathering."Weathering is the process of breaking down rocks and their minerals through direct contact with the atmosphere. In most situations, the atmospheric catalyst is either heat, water, ice, wind or pressure. Some types of rock can be weathered away easier than others due to a chemical compound called calcium carbonate.Science guy Steve Spangler takes a look at calcium carbonate with the help of KUSA's Mark Kobrick and an egg!To view the video, click the play button in the video box to the right.
