Halifax, Nova Scotia. Lived in Halifax, Kansas City, Toronto and Moncton, NB.Education:
UNB Science Degree in Math/Physics
Graduate work in Meteorology at Dalhousie University
Work Experience:
Steve joined NewsChannel 5 in July 1998. Previously he worked for the east coast affiliate of the Canadian Television Network, and with the Canadian Weather Service. Also a brief internship with a private ocean forecasting company. A full member of the American Meteorological Society, Steve holds the new CBM Seal from the AMS, the highest seal awarded to television meteorologists. Career highlights include Hurricane Frances and Jeanne in 2004, where he was on air almost continuously for several days, and the August 2003 tornado. Community work includes the American Red Cross (Steve's Ride for the Red Cross), Palm Beach Literacy Coalition, and honorary chair of Arthur's Jam for Cystic Fibrosis.Steve is married to Karen and has a son Jordan. And of course Beau the weather dog. In his spare time he plays golf, tennis and runs at the beach. Steve talks to thousands of viewers each year about television weather and hurricane preparedness.
